Getting to the Dandenong Ranges
It is possible to visit the Dandenong Ranges in a day trip without a car by travelling via train to with Upper Ferntree Gully Station or Croydon Station and then catching a connecting bus up and over the Dandenong Ranges (not to be confused with the city of Dandenong, which is not in this area). A trip to one of the train stations mentioned, then a bus across the Dandenongs to the other train station is ideal, stopping off at villages along the way. Ask at a train station in the city for time tables and more information. A Myki public transport pass for zones 1,2 &3 will be needed.
Collect a map of the Dandenongs from tourist information centres in the city.
